Badile LUBAMBA
President - Founder
Born in 1976 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, Badile Lubamba left his native country for Switzerland at the age of 7.
He studied in Lausanne, Avenches and Bulles and, like most boys of his age, was passionate about soccer. The social role of sport helped him to forge closer ties with his peers. At the age of sixteen, while completing an apprenticeship as a painter (leading to a federal vocational training certificate), he was spotted as a young talent by the prestigious Club Sportif de l'Espérance de Lausanne. From then on, Badile was propelled into the world of professional soccer until 2007, playing for several Swiss teams and in France (Troyes). Badile became the first player of color to join the Swiss national team (2001).
Despite his professional success, this native of the Democratic Republic of Congo has never forgotten his origins, nor the poverty and deprivation that still devastate his country. When his career as a professional footballer came to an end, he dedicated himself to helping disadvantaged young people in his country to achieve a better life, through sport.
A Swiss citizen, he set up a foundation in his own name in DR Congo, the Badile Lubamba Foundation. He then set up an association in Switzerland and a foundation in Canada to support his projects in DR Congo.
The Congolese nation, rich in potential and diversity, is in search of a radiant future. The women, young people, and vulnerable people who form the heart of this nation deserve to share in this hope. However, they are too often left behind. With this in mind, the BK Lubamba' Afrique Foundation is committed to supporting the Head of State's social and humanitarian initiatives. By implementing sustainable actions and innovative projects aimed at improving the daily lives of these individuals, the foundation is preparing to deploy its resources to sow the seeds of sustainable development. It aims to transform the lives of men and women in African societies facing challenges, by acting on three essential levels: physical, material, and intellectual, to forge a better and more prosperous future.
